One day in the magical land of Ilonata, a herd of unicorns went out to search for a lost foal. It had wandered into the deepest parts of the forest the night before to play a game of hide and seek with the other little unicorn foals but forgot to return home once it got dark. Usually, unicorns were quite skilled at blending into their backgrounds, so they could disappear behind trees and rocks with surprising ease. Their glittering coats and shining manes didn't give them away when they crept into the shadows. But the seeking unicorn didn't notice the hiding foal's shining mane, and no one came to look for it when it disappeared, which was probably why it got lost. The unicorns went into the forest and searched. They searched by the river, among the ferns, and behind the rocks and trees. But no matter where they looked, there was no sign of the missing foal. But suddenly, they discovered a trail of little muddy hoofprints that looked like they must have been left behind by the foal.

Three Hoods and a Trick or a Treat
On Halloween night, Manquin and Gassar strolled throughout the neighborhood looking for treats to fill their bags. Manquin dressed as Heath Ledger’s iteration of the Joker and Gassar dressed as Ghost from the original MW2. Neither received a single piece of candy in every house they visited. Time runs thin as midnight nears for the two pals, however, they will soon encounter a certain individual who will give them a treat or most likely trick. Both of them continue taking steps on the sidewalk, crossing streets. “I still can’t believe you convinced me to go trick or treating with you… my initial plans of carving Jack-O-lanterns with my familes names, then going to the annual Deep Web Organization Halloween Party would been preferable, wasted by your plan searching candy for free!” Manquin shouts at Gassar “Hey man, I don’t trust anything that places labels in their bowls as “candy”. My sweet tooth desires some sugar!” Gassar. “Dude, I’ve told you a bunch that we’re too old to be trick

Another day nearly comes to a close at Theodore Roosevelt High School. The students are in their final class period. Among the students, it is said that the last class is always the longest especially when it’s just before the weekend. The statement is also true amongst the teachers whose unfortunate weekends will be comprised of grading papers. Dan is one of those students who can’t wait for the bell to ring signaling the joyous end of the school week. Sadly, the bell can’t come fast enough. History is his and Brayden’s last class. The most boring of classes strategically placed at the end of the day to toy with his agonizing wait for two days of freedom. Dan has been watching the clock with a jaded expression since class started. Though the class is half over, the last twenty minutes seem to stretch into two hours. The clock’s taunting face stares back at Dan as it ticks away at a snail’s pace. He might as well have been watching paint dry. The class’ teacher isn’t

The next morning for Brayden was the same as usual. He got washed and dressed and then headed for the bus stop. After what happened yesterday morning, the bus driver took no chances and waited for Brayden. Except for the casually dressed man and the little girl who waved at him, none of the other people who saw him yesterday were on the bus. Arriving at school, Brayden meets up with Dan. “Hey Dan,” Brayden greeted him. “Hey, buddy, what’s up?” Dan said. “About yesterday you know, me sprinting outta here and all…” “Fuggedaboutit, I figured since it’s been a while since you did any martial arts that you forgot about how strong you are. So don’t worry, you know I won’t tell anybody and you know Derrick for sure won’t tell anybody either,” said Dan. Brayden laughs and says, “You’re right. Derrick would probably rather attend study hall than let anyone find out that he got his butt kicked outside the ring.” Dan and Brayden continue towards the school. Over in the student parking lot

Xeo Nexus Episode 1: Guardian Chapter 1
Prologue: Nearly four thousand years ago, an evil and malevolent force threatened the Earth. That force was the Dark Realm and its army led by their evil ruler known as Jaquio. Jaquio had his sights set on conquering Earth just as he has conquered the Light Realm known as Argetha one millennium ago. It was once a beautiful place and the Argethan people lived in peace for a long time. Until a malicious being and his army come to the peaceful plane and wreaked havoc across all of Argetha; they brought chaos and destruction to the land, decimating everything in sight and ravaging the land with death and destruction stripping it of its former beauty. The Argethan ruler’s castle was demolished and, in its place, stands a twisted and malevolent spire known as the Tower of Darkness; a sinister castle brought out by hate that the Dark Realm lord called Jaquio calls home. The Realm of Light was turned into the Dark Realm and the Argethan people were enslaved, forced to build weapons and

Once he is outside, Brayden runs toward Ryan Avenue. As he is crossing the street, he sees a truck coming towards him fast. The driver sees Brayden and honks the horn for him to move. In an instant Brayden leaps out of the way, only to land in front of an oncoming van. He quickly backflips out of its path landing back in the same lane where he dodged the truck. As he lands a car is quickly approaching him. The car rams into him. Brayden bowls up the windshield and is popped into the air. With amazing agility, Brayden twists his body while airborne and lands safely on his feet. Upon landing, he takes a moment to try and make sense of what just happened. “Hey kid!” yells a voice. Brayden looks up to see that it was the driver of the car that just hit him. “Hey kid, you ok?” the driver calls to him. Unable to answer, let alone try to figure out what he did and how he did it, Brayden did the only thing he could think of, and that was to run. Heading down the street next to his school

Soon the bus stops a couple blocks from Theodore Roosevelt High School. Brayden exits the bus with the passengers giving him the same awe-inspiring looks they did after witnessing his marathon bus chase earlier. The doors close and the bus drives off. The little girl waves to Brayden wearing a bright grin. Brayden waves back. Once the bus is gone, he crosses the street and heads on to school. When he arrives at the front gate, he meets up with Dan. “Dude, what happened? How come you didn’t call me last night?” he asked. “Oh damn, I’m sorry man. I got caught up talking with my mom and it got a little too late,” Brayden said, shying away from the truth. “Enough said,” Dan said. Then he looked at Brayden awkwardly and said, “Are you ok, pal?” “Yeah, why?” Brayden said as they continued walking towards the front door. “I don’t know. You just don’t look right or somethin’. Like somethin’s botherin’ ya,” Dan said concerning. “Nah, I’m ok. I just stayed up a little too

The next morning went as normal as usual. Brayden’s mom had already left for work while he was in the shower. It was about 8:00 when he finished his shower, got dressed, and left for school. On his way to catch the bus, Brayden cuts through the field next to the local school. Images of yesterday’s late afternoon storm returned to his mind. He remembers it all up to the point he was knocked unconscious. When the first lightning bolt struck him, there was intense pain at first. But then as Brayden felt the electricity flow through his body, he actually felt a soothing sensation before the pain returned. When he was struck the second time, more pain came with it, however, the same soothing feeling returned as well. It relaxed Brayden, making him feel at ease. Without realizing it, Brayden had stopped at the very spot where he was struck twice by lightning. “What happened yesterday?” he thought. Just then he hears a large vehicle approaching. Looking up, Brayden sees the bus

Not far from the field where Brayden is laying a car drives up to a pleasant looking suburban home. It pulls into the driveway and the engine quietly shuts off. The driver side door opens, and a black umbrella unfurls to cover the woman as she exits the car. She quickly trots up to the front door. Rummaging through her purse, the woman balances the umbrella while she searches for her keys. Droplets of rain sneak past the umbrella as it sways with the woman’s movements. She soon finds the object of her search and opens the front door. The woman enters the house. She folds down her umbrella and gives it a couple shakes before closing the door. After placing the umbrella in a ceramic holder molded to resemble a Great Dane, the woman removes her overcoat and then hangs it in the nearby closet. The mail is at her feet which she picks up. Kicking off her shoes and setting them by the door, she walks over to the coffee table, sifting the envelopes deciphering what is important and
To all of the contemporary, free verse poets, I wondered if one or more of you might consider a poetic collaboration with me.
I want to combine classical and contemporary poetry in one.
We would pick a topic or theme and one of us would write a couple of lines in our style and send it to the other to do the same. We'll go back and forth until the poem is completed.
